Fueled by “Flavortown” by rapper Flavor Flav and Guy Fieri, the U.S. remains an Olympic powerhouse on pace to secure a spot in the gold medal game for the fifth consecutive year. The Americans are 5-0 so far in 2024, with their toughest battle of the group coming in the quarterfinals, a 5-4 loss to Hungary. Maggie Steffens scored two goals in that match.
Australia has appeared in a medal match at four of six Olympic Games so far and could be on its way to a fourth, regardless of the result against the favored Americans. The Australians are also undefeated so far, and in some tangles they beat the Netherlands (15-14) and Hungary (14-12) to close out their Group A matches. They defeated Greece 9-6 in the quarterfinals.
