Ohio junior Senator James David “JD” Vance is the current Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States, running alongside former President Donald Trump. Vance has of course given more interviews about his various political beliefs, but also about his personal background, including the fact that he was once an active player of the popular trading card game. Following a recent controversy over JD Vance’s 2021 comments claiming that Democrats are “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they’ve made and therefore want to make the rest of the country unhappy too,” his wife Usha Vance continued Fox and friends for an interview with Ainsley Earhardt to defend her husband, saying of the “cat lady” comment, “He was making a joke to make a substantive point that he wanted to make. And I sometimes wish people would talk about these things and we would spend a lot less time going over this or that three-word phrase, because what he really wanted to say is that it can be really hard to be a parent in this country.”
However, as part of her attempt to humanize her husband, she also talked about some of his “silly habits.” Fox and friends Co-host Steve Doocy asked Earhardt, “I want him to explain what silly habits he has. Did she explain?” Earhardt then noted, “She hesitated. I asked, ‘What are these silly interests he has?’ And she hesitated and said, ‘He’s going to kill me for saying that, it’s Magic: This gatheringthat was a card game. And some of the guys on the set know it. It’s similar to Pokemonit’s so popular now. And his boys love Pokémon.”
