The Chester County Library invites everyone to discover the incredible resources and opportunities available at your local library by signing up for a library card.

This year, the Chester County Library is pleased to welcome Optimus Prime from the Transformers as a special ambassador, emphasizing that there is more to the Chester County Library than meets the eye. Whether you want to improve your skills, find valuable information, or connect with other avid readers, a library card opens up a world of possibilities.

“The Chester County Library is so excited to partner with Senator Comitta again to host our second Library Card Sign-Up Fest in September!” said Jenna Persick, Director of the Chester County Library. “Join us on Sunday, September 8th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Chester County Library in Exton for a fun day of tasting delicious ice cream from Handel’s Downingtown and trying out all the fun activities we have planned for the day including crafts, face painting, STEM kits, touch-a-truck, a photo booth, story time with special guest readers including Miss Pennsylvania’s Teen, Arianna Spurlin, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine Zoo and Stem On Wheels, and special character visits. Volunteers will also be accepting donations of new or used books for ages 0-18 to be distributed to local nonprofits. Please consider donating to this great cause. Of course, the main reason for this celebration is so that you can log in and get started with your library card to start the school year off right with your most important school resource – a library card. Everyone should have one!”

“Getting a library card is a transformative experience. It opens up a whole new world of education, discovery, entertainment and enrichment,” said Comitta, who sits on the Senate Education Committee. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with the Chester County Library again for our Library Sign-Up Fest. And I want to thank all of the staff, volunteers and supporters who work to spread the word about the power of public libraries.”

Today’s libraries are vibrant community centers that offer much more than just books. At the Chester County Library, you’ll find diverse programs, homework help, creative makerspaces, book clubs, author talks, storytimes, and more.

Want to try a new hobby or learn a new language? The Chester County Library also has the resources you need to learn a new hobby or language, or if you are interested in starting or growing a small business. The library offers various resources for entrepreneurs and small business owners by providing internet and technology access, literacy skills, and support for job seekers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs.

Getting a library card is easy and an important step toward academic success and lifelong learning for students. Visit the Chester County Library in September to apply for a library card and discover all that your library has to offer.

Since 1987, Library Card Application Month has been held each September to celebrate the start of the school year. During this month, the ALA and libraries join together in a national effort to ensure every child applies for a library card. For more information on applying for a library card, visit the Chester County Library or Henrietta Hankin Branch Library in person or online. The mission of the Chester County and Henrietta Hankin Branch Libraries is to provide information, educational and cultural services to the residents of Chester County to enable them to become lifelong learners.
