Walmart partners with Burger King – how to get a free Whopper

Walmart announced Thursday that it has partnered with Restaurant Brands’ Burger King to offer discounted meals to its member customers as the retail giant looks to make its services more attractive to better compete with Amazon Prime.

Walmart members can take advantage of discounts at Burger King, including 25% off any digital order every day, the company said.

In addition, starting in September, members will receive a free Whopper burger with every purchase at Burger King every three months.

The retailer’s Walmart Plus subscription service offers plans for $12.95 per month or an annual plan for $98, while membership to main competitor Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the U.S.

Amazon announced in May that its U.S. customers will be able to order from online delivery service Grubhub directly through its shopping app and website, expanding a deal that already gives Prime members free access to Grubhub+ membership.

Walmart Plus members can take advantage of the offer at Burger King stores nationwide by placing their order through the restaurant chain’s app or website, the retailer added.
