THIS is the shocking moment a Spanish police boat appears to run over a boat with four people on board.
The video shared on X shows a dinghy heading towards the coast of the Spanish enclave of Melilla, closely followed by a Guardia Civil patrol.
You can see the police circling the much smaller dinghy and then driving completely over it, forcing the passengers to duck and at least one of them flying into the water.
A spokesman for the Guardia Civil told the Spanish press that no one was injured in the incident, which occurred on Sunday.
However, the Moroccan Association for Human Rights described the actions of the Spanish police as “violent and dangerous” and called for an investigation.
The campaign group said four people were arrested following the clashes and handed over to Moroccan authorities.
It is assumed that they tried to enter Spain illegally, but further details are scarce.
The Moroccan Association for Human Rights said in a statement: “The Spanish bear full responsibility and must assume responsibility for opening an investigation.”
Meanwhile, Solidary Wheels, an NGO based in the North African enclave of Melilla, demanded a “detailed explanation” from the Guardia Civil about the incidents.
However, any possibility of an internal investigation appears to have been dashed after a source in the Spanish Interior Ministry told Europa Press that an investigation was not being considered.
