Calcutta: Due to the ongoing Repair work of the flood tank No. 2 in Salt Lake, the water supply is likely to be Households in the seven blocks of Salt Lake Sector I in the next five to seven days. The blocks where water supply may be affected are AA, AB, AC, BA, BB, CA and CB.
BMC MMiC (water supply) Tulsi Sinha Roy said that a message has been circulated on WhatsApp to inform the residents. Roy said, “Earlier, the tanks were repaired one by one even when it was required. This is the first time that all the tanks are being fully upgraded. The tanks will be retrofitted, mechanical and electrical repairs will be made and the above and below ground reservoirs will be upgraded including the boundary walls, tank structure and the dome above. The old pumps will also be replaced.”
Officials said the Water tanks have not been modernized since the founding of the municipality.
