But now it’s enough to give the teacher an apple! As part of the back-to-school campaign, Wawa is handing out free hot coffee to teachers and school staff in its local branches.

According to the convenience store chain, the initiative will offer a free hot coffee of any size from Monday, September 2nd to Sunday, September 15th.

It is available in the company’s Mid-Atlantic territory, which includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, as well as Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Wawa ran a similar giveaway in Alabama and Florida this month.

To receive their coffee, “teachers and school staff simply need to tell the cashier that they are a member of a local school system,” Wawa says.

The Cheers to Classrooms offer is only valid in stores and not on the Wawa app or delivery services.

“We hope this small gesture shows our deep appreciation for all that educators and school staff do for the children in the community,” said Dave Simonetti, a Wawa executive, in announcing the offer.

The company, based in a suburb of Philadelphia, has more than 1,060 locations, including about 290 stores in New Jersey.

According to its website, the company brews more than 182 million cups of coffee annually.
