Wayne Bank receives the Pillar of the Community Award

HONESDALE, PA — Wayne Bank has been honored with one of FHLBank Pittsburgh’s prestigious Pillar of the Community Awards. This recognition is a testament to the bank’s tireless commitment to community service and outstanding community involvement. Wayne Bank received the award at its Member Recognition Event on June 10, 2024 in Philadelphia and celebrated alongside other distinguished honorees.

The Pillar of the Community Awards are given to member financial institutions that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to community development. Award winners have also demonstrated exemplary performance and effective use of FHLBank’s community products. This award is FHLBank’s highest organizational honor and is presented annually to select FHLBank members in recognition of their commitment to community revitalization.

“We are deeply honored to receive this award,” said Jim Donnelly, CEO of Wayne Bank. “Our commitment to the community is at the heart of everything we do! This recognition encourages us to continue our efforts to make a positive difference in the communities we serve.”

Wayne Bank has a long history of community involvement, making nearly 400 donations to local schools, food banks, first responders and charities, among others, in 2023. Their generous and caring staff have participated in countless community events including parades, fundraisers, races and more.

In addition to its community involvement, Wayne Bank was selected as a “Community Pillar” for its commitment to providing innovative banking technologies and tools to the communities in which it operates. Through the First Front Door program, they have financed households and provided down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers. Through their partnership with the Home4Good program, they have supported over twenty projects and helped people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing grants to finance the initiative to provide housing for those in need. Finally, they have supported small businesses in their region through Banking on Business and the Banking on Business Inclusion and Equity Fund. These funds were used to finance the start-up, maintenance or expansion of a business. In addition, the Community Lending Program was also used to create new commercial buildings and a hotel.

This award recognition comes from FHLBank Pittsburgh. FHLBank is one of eleven Federal Home Loan Banks established by the U.S. Congress to provide reliable financing and liquidity to its member financial institutions, which include commercial banks and savings associations, community development financial institutions, credit unions, and insurance companies in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. FHLBank has been an integral and reliable part of the financial system since 1932.
