Wayne County man wins million in Michigan Lottery Gold Multiplier Instant Game

ProfitlessA Wayne County man’s jaw dropped when he learned he had won $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Gold Multiplier instant game.

The lucky 53-year-old player, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased his winning ticket at the Tel-Wick Amoco Service Center, 9225 Telegraph Road in Taylor.

“I scratched the ticket and saw I had one number, but I didn’t scratch off the winning amount right away,” the player said. “I scratched off the rest of the ticket and saw I had no more numbers, so I scratched off the winning amount. When I saw a $1 million win, my jaw dropped! I immediately called my son and fiancé to tell them the news.

“This win is life changing and one of the best things that has ever happened to me! I’ve been nervous for days and it still doesn’t seem real.”

The player recently visited the lottery headquarters to claim the jackpot. He opted to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $693,000 rather than as a full annuity payment. He plans to use his winnings to help his family.

Players have won more than $21 million on the Gold Multiplier, which launched in March. Each $10 ticket offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million. There are more than $30 million in prizes left to be won, including two $1 million top prizes, 23 $10,000 prizes and 39 $2,000 prizes.

In 2023, lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.

Instant lottery games can be purchased at retailers across the state.
