Wayne David Olmstead, 67, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. Wayne was born on May 22, 1957, in Greenwich, Connecticut, to Barbara and David Olmstead.

Wayne attended Riverside Elementary School, Eastern Middle School, Greenwich High School, and Southern Connecticut University and lived in Greenwich his entire life. Wayne worked at Aquarian Water Company for over 30 years and happily retired in 2022.

Wayne leaves behind his son Taylor, his sister Linda and four brothers: Terry, Bryan, Tim and Patrick.

Before Wayne died, his wife Allison, whom he loved very much, died.

Wayne lived in Greenwich his entire life and loved his city. Wayne had a commanding presence and was someone you would immediately notice when he walked into a room at 6’3″. He was very outgoing, loved to have fun and make people laugh. He was a friend to all who knew him or met him.

Wayne was an extremely devoted family man who loved his wife, son, family and friends very much.

Wayne had a passion for sports and was a great athlete. He participated in all kinds of sports over the years and excelled in track, hockey, basketball and of course softball. Wayne enjoyed coaching and loved helping young athletes develop. Over the years he coached and won various championships in Greenwich as a youth coach for football and baseball.

All who knew Wayne will remember and miss him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 22nd at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Church, 178 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich.

Following the service there will be a celebration of life.
