MACON, GA, UNITED STATES, August 8, 2024 /EINPresswire.com/ – U.S. Congressional candidate Wayne Johnson announced today that Michael Nixon has joined the Wayne Johnson for Congress campaign as a senior advisor and designated primary candidate surrogate.
Nixon, himself a former congressional candidate, has dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. “As a person and as a leader, Mike brings a wealth of experience, a strong moral compass and a deep commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of his fellow Georgians,” Johnson said in making the announcement.
“I am thrilled to have Mike join me in this incredibly important congressional challenge,” Johnson said. “As an Army veteran myself, I am especially grateful for Mike’s continued service in uniform to our country. Mike is a man of impeccable integrity and faith. Having had the honor of running against Mike in the primary, I have seen firsthand how he connects with voters and their families. He is a tremendous asset to me and my campaign and will continue to serve the people of Central and Southwest Georgia as part of my field staff once I am elected to Congress.”
Johnson continued, “Michael Nixon’s love of country is evident in his service in the military. He bravely wore the uniforms of the Air Force and Navy and served a total of ten years on active duty. During his service, Mike was deployed three times and witnessed firsthand the sacrifices America’s brave men and women make to protect our freedom.”

Dr. Wayne Johnson was born in Macon and has lived in Georgia since birth. Johnson is a husband, father, grandfather, and U.S. Army veteran. He earned his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees from Mercer University and his master’s in business administration from Emory University.
Johnson is a respected former banker who has founded businesses in central and southwest Georgia, other parts of the country, and internationally. He has ranched as well as farmed trees and worked for major corporations with ties to Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District.
