Over the years, we’ve been able to rely on Katy Perry for vintage hairstyles; with her long-standing nods to pin-up beauty and her trademark black hair. She’s debuted plenty of movie-star-style curls, thick bangs, and of course, updos and beehives. But her latest beehive hairstyle is a little different and a style changer.
Katy posted the look on her Instagram grid. She wears her hair in a half-up, half-down beehive style, with her long dark locks cascading down. The front is sharply parted a few inches down the middle and falls down on either side of the part, while the rest goes straight back, forming the teased part of the beehive. But what makes it stand out is its narrowness. Or should we say what makes it stand out.
Created by LA-based hairstylist Rick Henry, the haircut supports the narrow tower of hair as it flows down and around the sides of the hairstyle, creating this theatrical height of the hair that only starts above the ears. We’re not sure if we’ve seen a similar style before, but we’re in love.
The theatrical vintage look of the hairstyle perfectly matched her sparkly pink dress covered in feathers. It was topped off with a shimmery pink glam look by MUA Marc Anthony and a sweet French manicure by one of our favorites, Kim Truong. All that pink and sparkle is straight out of our childhood fantasies but looks anything but childish and the eye-catching hairstyle gives it the stylish touch.
