Brave guests can book a free night’s stay in Ibiza, but there is a catch: the walls are made of glass.
Margaret and Corey Bienert, two travel bloggers who run the popular TikTok page “A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour,” ventured to stay in the all-glass room in the lobby of the Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel, but they were “unprepared for the experience.”
“I thought the idea was so funny,” Margaret said in a video posted earlier this week. “Of course I wanted to try it.”
However, the hotel was not transparent about the room amenities or the experience — including the fact that the lights are not even turned off at night. That means, she noted, “you’re basically on display all night long.”
Footage of their strange evening shows staff mopping floors, guests checking in at the front desk, and passersby gawking and even taking photos of the couple lying in their plush bed.
“The thing is, I just hadn’t done the research to realize that this is an art hotel,” she admitted. “So whoever sleeps in this room is simply part of the art.”
In addition, it was not completely soundproof, so loud noises, music and other sounds could be heard from the room and vice versa.
While the couple said they got some sleep, hotel guests eventually knocked on the glass pane, waking the couple from their sleep.
Her supporters compared the situation to a “nightmare,” while others said they were “having fun” in this unorthodox environment.
“New bucket list idea,” one person wrote.
“I could never do that… you are brave!” cheered another.
“I could never do that!!! I would feel like an exhibit in a museum,” commented another.
When asked if there were any restrictions on what they were not allowed to do in the room – suggesting adult activities – Margaret replied that “no rules were given to them.”
“This is an adults-only art hotel, so it’s an experimental space that’s meant to be a fun and different experience,” Margaret told Storyful, adding that if she “could go back, I would make it even more fun.”
Looking back, she said she wished she had planned to “entertain the guests instead of feeling completely defenseless in there all evening,” such as performing the entire set list of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, painting live, asking for a kiss through the glass for $5, or pretending she was in a locked room and needed help to escape.
“It was absolutely worth the visit, even though we had one of the weirdest nights of our lives,” Margaret said on TikTok.
