Friday was a persistently warm day and humidity even increased, although the weather was still pleasant enough to get outside. The cloud formation signals the change in the forecast from pleasant to a little more chaotic, with showers and storms in the forecast for the weekend. These showers and storms will all be accompanied by a warm front initially, followed later by a cold front. Lows will drop to around 21°C overnight, making it pleasant to relax outdoors on Saturday.
This front will also bring some rain over the weekend. It looks like scattered showers will develop Friday night. Thankfully, we’re not expecting any rain, just scattered showers here and there through Saturday and Sunday. Models continue to forecast 0.50-1.00 inches of rain for the region through Monday, but that seems a bit high given the scattered nature of the rain. Some backyards could get away with it just fine, while others will likely be missed. You know the game. Trough formation in upper air will also favor some afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the weekend and Monday. Some of these storms would contain downpours as they develop. Given the higher humidity, there will be plenty of atmospheric water to work with. No severe weather is expected at this point, just a few claps of thunder could occur. We’ll continue to refine the forecast, but right now it looks like wet conditions are in store, but there won’t be total chaos over the weekend. Some backyards might get hit by rain, while others might be overlooked. Stay tuned and enjoy the weekend – next week is looking cooler and more pleasant after Monday!
