Wedding guests are treated to burgers and apple pie after the couple fell in love at McDonald’s

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (KMAX) – A California couple is no longer just serving Happy Meals, but is now living happily ever after.

Six years after meeting while working at a McDonald’s, Joseph Gomez and Abby Armienta are now engaged and about to get married.

“We both started at McDonald’s and our colleagues immediately thought Abby and I would be a good fit,” Gomez said.

Little did they know that they would go together as well as burgers and fries.

But they needed a little push.

McDonald’s team members came up with a plan to bring them together.

What was planned as a team-building event at the cinema turned into the couple’s unofficial first date.

“Nobody showed up except Abigail and me. They sort of lured us into a trap to set us up on a blind date,” Gomez said.

They will make their union official in September.

“We’ve come this far. It’s crazy considering we’re getting married in a month,” Armienta said. “And I’m just excited for everything that’s next.”

The same colleagues who made the contact will be present and will hear them say “yes”.

Thanks to their McDonald’s family, wedding guests can snack on cheeseburgers and apple pie at the after-party.

Jordan Ruiz, the owner of the McDonald’s where the couple met, said he also met his wife while working at the fast-food restaurant.

“I met my wife at McDonald’s and one of my bosses met her husband at McDonald’s. So, you know, love is always in the air,” he said.
