August 10th: The Cookout with Codetta Bake Shop

Center Plaza. 100 N. Charles St. 2-7pm Pay as you go

Spend your Saturday downtown with Codetta Bake Shop owner Sumayyah Bilal, who is bringing this boisterous celebration of local Black businesses and creatives back to Center Plaza. We recommend coming with an empty stomach so you can fully enjoy the food on offer from Soul Smoked BBQ, Emmanuella’s Haitian Cuisine, The Cookie Chemist, and of course, Codetta.There’s plenty of ice cream, cheesecake and oatmeal pies here, as well as a savory surprise option. After you’ve fueled up, wander around to enjoy live performances and stock up on local goods from companies like From Baltimore With Love and Beads by Keeva.

10 August: Historic pub crawl through Hampden

Atomic Books. 3620 Falls Road. 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. $20 for non-Baltimore Heritage members

Local history buffs can learn about Hampden’s long-standing reputation as home to wonderful pubs at this self-proclaimed “brewery.”nice” Tour. Participants are guided by Baltimore Heritage experts through the historic district, where You will Learn about the impact of restrictions during Prohibition and the evolution of the local bar scene since then. Stops include Hampden Yards for locally brewed beer samples (included in ticket price), as well as Melanie’s at Griffith’s Tavern and Zissimos Bar.

10 August: First Graphic Novel Festival

Dreamers & Make-Believers. 400 South Highland Avenue. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free

Join authors, Illustrators, and librarians in Highlandtown for this first-of-its-kind graphic novel extravaganza, hosted by Bmore TransformDreamers & Make-Believers Bookstore and the Enoch Pratt Free Public Library. Fans of the medium of storytelling can spend the day in workshops, Plates, and signings to deepen their appreciation and connect with others Like-minded people Baltimoreans. Look for an artist alley that Showcase Graphic novels and other works of art.

10 August: Baltimore by Baltimore: “Groove in the City”

Inner Harbor Amphitheater. 12pm-8pm, free

The next edition of the Inner Harbor’s popular all-day music festival, produced by 24-year-old multi-instrumentalist and Love Groove Festival founder John Tyler, is a celebration of emerging musicians, artists and small businesses. Enjoy electrifying live performances from Charm City talent like Eze Jackson, Javi Vera, DJ Jayswann, Ryan Watkins Group, Kinesthesia and more. Plus, browse local artists and an outdoor art gallery, snack on snacks from regional vendors and visit the Baltimore Visit our magazine reading corner and pick up a copy of our July issue.

10 August: Hot August Music Festival

Oregon Ridge Park. 13401 Beaver Dam Rd. Cockeysville. 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Tickets start at $99

Swing to the sounds of bluegrass at this popular all-ages music festival in Cockeysville, which has been running since 1993. This year’s headliners include powerhouse vocalist Grace Potter, jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy, and local favorites Cris Jacobs and Pressing Strings. In addition to live music, the lush 2,500-acre park also features food and drink vendors (be sure to try Lightnin’ Bug Kolsch, Union Craft’s signature festival beer), kid-friendly activities, and artisans hand-picked by new festival owners Robbie Cooper and Ryan Glaeser.
