Wendy Williams was spotted in public for the first time in over a year.

Williams, 60, was spotted with her son Kevin Hunt Jr. — whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Hunter — at holistic store Bolingo Balance in Newark, New Jersey, on Monday, August 19. The outing, first reported by Page Six, marks the first time the television personality has been spotted since March 2023.

An employee at Bolingo Balance – which is run by Victor Bowman, the son of the late Dr. Sebi – told the outlet that Williams was “attentive, optimistic and attentive” and “very lively” during the visit. She was “interesting but not as familiar with what we do here, so her son explained more things.”

The employee continued, “She talked about improving circulation but did not want to go into too much detail during her first meeting and plans to return in the near future.”

Bowman also shared a photo of himself and Williams on his Facebook page on Monday, August 19. “Wendy Williams come to my store 🏬 love Queen 👸🏾,” he captioned the post.

Photos were also posted on the store’s Instagram account. “Much love to Wendy Williams and her son ❤️,” the caption read. “I remember when I met Kevin in Usha village, my dad told me I want to introduce you to Wendy’s son.”

Williams’ son responded in the comments section: “🙏🏽📈🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽.”

Williams was last seen and photographed in public in March 2023 when she returned to her apartment in New York City. Before that, she made her last appearance at The Wendy Williams Show in July 2021. Before the show ended in June 2022, and in light of Williams’ ongoing health issues, including Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and alcohol abuse, several celebrities appeared as guest hosts before the show was canceled.

Between her appearances in March 2023 and August 2024, Williams’ team announced that she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Her sister Wanda Finnie and niece Alex told PEOPLE exclusively in February that she was not informed of her diagnosis after being admitted to a facility for cognitive treatment. She said she has not received any information about Williams’ diagnosis since fall 2021.

Finnie added that shortly after the star’s court-ordered guardianship began in April 2022, communication with her and the rest of the family was restricted.

The following month, court documents were released detailing the ongoing dispute between Williams’ legal and financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and Lifetime’s parent company, A+E Networks. They also discussed the documentary about Williams – Where is Wendy Williams? – and point to Williams’ hotly debated financial status.

Since Morrissey’s proposal in March 2024, Williams’ New York penthouse was sold in May. She then celebrated her 60th birthday in July, but a source told PEOPLE at the time that her family “is keeping their fingers crossed and praying for Wendy and wants to extend their best wishes for her on her 60th birthday.”

“Due to ongoing litigation and the fact that they have been largely denied contact, Wendy Williams’ family cannot comment on her current condition and whereabouts,” the source added.
