“This afternoon at 1:51 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding an active shooter at Summit Mall. Patrol officers searched the area and were unable to locate a victim, crime scene, or any witnesses confirming a shooting. The mall is operating as usual and officers will continue to pay special attention today. Another wrote: “Glad everyone is safe! Great job everyone!”

This incident occurred just hours after a similar situation at Colorado Mills Mall in Lakewood, where police also responded to reports of an active shooter. It was later determined that the noise was caused by a group of teenagers who accidentally dropped a jug of milk.

“At approximately 5:40 p.m. this evening, Lakewood Police responded to calls of shots fired at Colorado Mills Mall. Multiple agents responded and cleared the mall. No injuries were reported. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a group of juveniles were attempting to prank a friend by pouring a jug of milk over his head. The jug slipped and made a loud noise as it hit the ground,” Lakewood Police stated.
