National Cheap Flight Day is August 23, and data from online travel agency CheapOair shows that both domestic and international airfares are trending downward. According to an analysis of CheapOair bookings over the past two months, the average cost of a U.S. domestic airfare has dropped 33.4% since June 1 of this year. The average price of international flights in the U.S. has dropped 10% over the same period. The numbers show a similar trend for Canada, where average domestic airfares have dropped 22% and international airfares have dropped 19% since June 1. And there’s even more reason to be excited. While final numbers won’t be available until after the period ends, airfares for bookings to date in the United States for August and September show a downward trend of 30% for domestic flights and 10% for international flights compared to the same period in 2023.
