What to watch out for after the Las Vegas Raiders’ last practice

The Las Vegas Raiders held their final training camp on Thursday night at the Intermountain Health Performance Center in Henderson, Nevada. Now they are preparing for their final preseason game on Friday against the San Francisco 49ers.

It’s time for the core players to get healthy again before Week 1. We know that most of the first and second line players will not play in the final game of the season on Friday.

Friday’s game is a good opportunity for players trying to make the practice squad or make a last-ditch attempt to earn a spot on the roster. Not only will the organization be looking at these players, but other NFL teams may be as well. Just because these players don’t make the roster doesn’t mean they can’t make it to another one.

Our Hondo S. Carpenter Sr. spoke about insights from training camp in a recent episode of the “Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast”.

“I expected the quarterback position to be better than it is,” Carpenter said. “… I’m a little disappointed in the quarterback position. … Right now, neither of them has gotten there. Gardner had a better night tonight. Aidan had a nice touchdown, but also an interception. Gardner had no interceptions. There were some pre-snap penalties by the offense. … We’re seeing it with the front line. So that’s very concerning. Now they’ve got two weeks to get that right. … That’s something to keep an eye on.”

” … The safeties are awesome. (Tre’von Moehrig), (Marcus) Epps, Isaiah Pola-Mao, they have several safeties that have played really well. Overall, as a team right now and with all these questions about the quarterback … well, I think you give him a C. That’s how I would grade camp. The second line of the defensive line, especially at the ends, is what I’m concerned about. … I think there’s a good chance they (the Raiders) could be very active on the waiver list. … If there are a couple of veterans, it might cost a little bit, but they’re really good players. Their teams just couldn’t afford them. I think you could see the Raiders bringing in a couple of guys for sure. So, maybe there’s something to that.”
