The EA College Football 2025 video game season has already begun. The actual college football season is not far away and football fans can’t wait to watch their favorite college football teams take over stadiums across the country.

When does college football season start? Here’s what you need to know and how to watch.

When do college football games start?

The first week, also known as Week Zero, begins on August 24. According to the NCAA, the limited schedule will feature numerous Division I teams.

Here is the schedule for Saturday, August 24 (all times ET):

  • Florida State vs. Georgia Tech (in Dublin, Ireland) | 12 p.m. | ESPN
  • McNeese at Tarleton State | 2:30 p.m. | ESPN2
  • Montana State vs. New Mexico | 4 p.m. | FS1
  • Subdivision Football Championship Kickoff: North Alabama vs. Southeast Missouri State | 7:00 p.m. | ESPN
  • Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and Southwestern Athletic Conference Challenge: Norfolk State vs. Florida A&M | 7:30 p.m. | ABC
  • SMU at Nevada | 8pm | CBS Sports Network

The second week, also called Week One, begins on Thursday, August 29th. Most of this week’s games are scheduled for August 31st.

Bowling Green is the first team from Ohio to start the college football season

The Falcons have the honor of being the first school in Ohio to start the 2024 college football season.

They host Fordham on Thursday, August 29th at 7 p.m. ESPN+ will broadcast the game.

When does the 2024 college football season start in Toledo?

The Rockets are one of the first teams to begin the 2024 season. They will host Duquesne at the Glass Bowl in their season opener on August 29. The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Ohio State University football team starts its season against another school in Ohio

The Buckeyes, ranked No. 2 in the AP preseason poll and perennial title contenders, will face Akron in the season opener on August 31 at 3 p.m. ET. The home game at Ohio Stadium will be televised on CBS.

Cincinnati football starts at home on August 31

The Bearcats have two home games at Nippert Stadium to start the season. On August 31, they host Towson for the first game of the season at 2:30 p.m. ESPN+ will broadcast the game.

When does the college football season start for Kent State?

The Golden Flashes will begin the 2024 season away in Pittsburgh. Kickoff is scheduled for August 31 at noon in downtown Pittsburgh. ESPNU will broadcast the game.

Kent State’s first home game is scheduled for September 7 at 2:30 p.m.

When does the college football season start for Ohio University?

The Bobcats will travel to upstate New York to face Syracuse in their opening game of the 2024 season on August 31. Kickoff at the Carrier Dome is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. ACC Network will broadcast the game.

Miami football starts August 31 at Northwestern

Miami University football will face Northwestern in the 2024 season opener on August 31 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Big Ten Network will broadcast the game, and it could be a great sight: Northwestern will play at Martin Stadium, right next to Lake Michigan, and is rebuilding Ryan Field for the game.
