To progress in Black Myth: Wukong, you must find, defeat, and absorb powerful enemies.
In Black Myth: Wukong, exploring the arid Yellow Wind Ridge eventually leads to a dead end. Faced with a massive stone door, you’re tasked with finding the sharpness of the tiger and the severity of the stone if you want to progress.
Where to get the Sharpness of the Tiger and the Severity of the Stone in Black Myth: Wukong
To obtain the Sharpness of the Tiger, you must defeat Tiger Vanguard in the Crouching Tiger Temple, and to obtain the Austerity of the Stone, you must defeat Stone Vanguard in Rockrest Flat in Fright Cliff. You can access both from the Valley of Despair Shrine, near where you fought the Royal Family of Flowing Sands.
How to get the sharpness of the tiger
To find Tiger Vanguard in the Crouching Tiger Temple, you must go left from the massive locked stone gate in the Valley of Despair that tells you to “use the counter.”
Go down into the cave, but be careful of the rat man with the shield and the archer on the left. It’s actually pretty easy for them to kill you once the archer starts spamming his rapid fire attack.
You will come to a large cave and see a familiar face. A very large monster will appear, but you don’t have to worry about it now as you can easily get around it. Stay on the right side of the cave and move behind the large stone pillar near the enemy that spits snakes.
Behind them is another enemy near a small stone ramp. Go up the ramp and then down the other side and you’ll find a tiny gap in the wall. Squeeze in and you’ll find a bat-like enemy. You can get a ghost from them, so it’s actually quite a tough fight. Once they’re dead, grab the ghost and exit the room through the broken wall on the right.
Heading down the short slope will take you to the Crouching Tiger Temple. Search all sides of the main staircase for loot and when you reach the top it’s time to fight the Tiger Vanguard.
This is a tough fight, as Tiger Vanguard combines bladework, punches, and kicks with blood magic and an ability called Stone Skin to interrupt your attacks. The main trick for this fight is to learn the slight delays between his combos, which are designed to trick you into poorly timed dodges, leaving you vulnerable to injury.
Once he is defeated, you will gain the Tiger’s Sharpness.
This is how you get the severity of the stone
To obtain the Stone’s Severity, you must return to the Valley of Despair Shrine in Sandgate Village. On the other side of the arena, you will notice a large rope bridge. Cross it and head down the path, watching out for the stone enemy to your right.
Ahead of you, standing in a large stone gate, you will see another enemy. Eliminate him and continue through a ravine. You will have to deal with two more enemies, a rock monster and a snake spitter, and you will get to the Shrine of Squall’s Lair.
From there, it doesn’t matter if you go left or right, both paths lead to the same place and have the same amount of enemies. You’ll come to the Rockcrest Flat Shrine, and if you look over the rock that the shrine is on, you’ll see a gate in the distance. Going through this will take you to an arena where you’ll have to fight the Stone Vanguard.
This boss is actually not that difficult; he has limited attack patterns to follow and his most annoying move is when he summons small enemies to slam into you, setting you up for a big jump attack. Cloud Step is an easy counter to this as they all hit your bait and not you.
Once you’ve collected all of the Buddha Eyes, you can place them in a large rock near the entrance to summon a secret boss. Once you’ve defeated the Stone Vanguard, you’ll receive the Austerity of Stone and can then open any gate, both of which require “using the count.”
