Here’s what else we know about the 29-year-old who Gerard Butler seems to be infatuated with.
Penny Lane almost gave up modeling because of body image issues
Penny Lane, a native of Cheshire, England, began modeling at the age of 16. But soon after, her career began to take a heavy toll on her mental health. The pressure to maintain a “size 0” figure led the young model to develop an unhealthy relationship with diet and exercise, according to her interview with SI.
Lane shared her mental health crisis on Instagram, explaining how the fashion industry convinced her that “I would be a failure if I wasn’t a certain size.” She also revealed that she had lost her “female hormones and felt stripped of her identity as a woman.” She was then told she might not be able to have children, a moment she describes as her “rock bottom.”
This prompted her to take a break from modeling and embrace a more holistic approach to health and lifestyle. According to her SI Swimsuit profile, she delved into “meditation, nutrition, spirituality and restoring her well-being” and became a certified holistic health coach.
She posts similar content on her second IG account @thepennyplan but hasn’t been very active recently. She now advocates for body positivity and inclusivity in the fashion industry.
Lane also took to Instagram to fight back against “trolls” who claimed her body was “artificial.” She clarified the matter, saying it was all “mother nature” and that she was only healthy because “I reactivated my female hormones.”
What else does Penny Lane do?
Of course, she is also an influencer who has 364,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing.
What are Penny Lane’s hobbies?
Lane describes herself as an “adventure girlie” and, according to Instagram, participates in various sports such as racing, windsurfing, snorkeling and boxing. She once received weapons training for a film role and hashtags that refer to herself as a “Lara Croft wannabe” and “Jane Bond.”
Her minor passions include baking, which she has loved since childhood, and painting.
She suggests exercising in accordance with your menstrual cycle
As part of her holistic lifestyle, Lane has identified which exercises are most effective during different menstrual phases. For example, during the luteal phase, when you may be feeling tired, Lane recommends hiking, stretching and walking. On the other hand, when you’re “feeling at your peak,” she recommends strength training.
Lane herself trains with her long-time friend and personal trainer Stephen Cheuk of S10 Training.
