Quincy is from Missouri
Although he later flew to Paris to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympics, Quincy is from Kansas City, Missouri.
He participated in several high school sports
Years before his meteoric rise as an Olympian, Quincy participated in several other sports during his school years. In addition to track, he was a wrestler and football player at Raytown South High School in Missouri.

He attended the University of South Carolina
The athlete competed at the College of the Sequoias in California, where in addition to the 400-meter hurdles, he also became the California Community College Athletic Association champion in the 4×400-meter relay.
He later played for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
His personal best is 43.80
In the weeks leading up to his participation in the 2024 Olympic Games, Quincy set a personal best of 43.80 in the Herculis Diamond League 400-meter race in Monaco.
Quincy’s Olympic victory came out of nowhere
In the final seconds of the 400-meter final, Quincy was in fourth place behind runners Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain, Muzala Samukonga of Zambia and Jereem Richards of Trinidad. However, he quickly turned things around by sprinting past the others in the final 100 meters and securing the gold medal for America.
Quincy rang in his epic victory by making a snow angel on the track and then commented on the incredible win, according to NBC.
“I just thought, ‘Come home, sir. Come home, sir,'” he said. “I’m not giving up. I’m just staying strong, I’m staying persistent. I’m determined. … “I told you I was going to win a gold medal this year. I know I can win. I knew it today. I’ve done that my whole career.”
