Wicca Guide (Deck, Strategy, Review)

Wiccan was the first non-Season Pass card to be added Marvel Snapshot in August as part of the Young Avengers season. It is a 4-cost, 7-power card with the ability to give the player +2 Max Energy when revealed—assuming they spent all of their Energy on the previous turn.

Wicca Deck Synergy Explained

  • Zabu helps to give up Wiccan early.
  • Havok gains power from Wiccan’s additional energy without limiting drops.
  • The collector benefits from the card summons of Nico Minoru, Kate Bishop and Cable.
  • Quinjet offers additional discounts.
  • Nick Fury summons 6-cost cards that players can drop with Wiccan’s bonus energy.
  • Cull Obsidian and Skaar are powerhouses. (Players can also lower their costs.)

How to Play Wicca Effectively in Marvel Snap

Wicca in Marvel Comics.

A key strategy when playing Wicca is to have as many 2-cost options in the deck as possible. His +2 energy is not enough to drop multiple big cards, so players should have several mid-range cards in their deck to pair with the powerhouses.

Wiccan delivers when players drop him before turn four and retrigger his effect. With discount cards like Zabu or energy providers like Psylocke, as well as retrigger options like Grand Master, players should try to play Wiccan early and get more energy out of him to get the most out of his effect.

How to Counter Wicca in Marvel Snap

One of the best counters for Wicca is Sandman on turn 5. Wicca players will use him for a ramp strategy to several drops in round six. With Sandman, opposing players can thwart the ramping plan and limit their play to just one card, which could be devastating. Players could also try a Cosmo counterattack since Wiccan is an On Reveal card.

Is Wicca worth it in Marvel Snap?

Although Wiccan offers reliable synergies with some ramp cards, he can’t provide tangible value in most setups. The reason for Wiccan’s lack of momentum is his cost. In most cases, he is played on turn four, meaning players can only get +4 Max Energy out of him.
