The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Williamson man following an investigation into alleged sexual abuse. Authorities say 22-year-old Richard O’Neil Jr. was indicted by a Wayne County grand jury on first-degree sexual assault, five counts of sexual misconduct and sexual battery. The incidents reportedly occurred in the summer of 2022 and involved two minor family members.
O’Neil was taken into custody on August 16, 2024, after initially resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Wayne County Court and remanded in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
The following day, O’Neil was charged with obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Williamson Municipal Court on September 18, 2024.
