Wings City fails with 51; Burger Crush receives 100

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – On Bells Ferry Road in Cherokee County, Wings City is open despite the health inspector ordering management to voluntarily close after two failed inspections. On August 13, Wings City scored just 63 points. Three days later, Wings City failed again, scoring just 51 points and a “U” for unsatisfactory.

The latest report states that a dirty knife was stored as a clean one, that a dead cockroach was found in the freezer and that moldy sausage was stored in the cooler.

“We didn’t serve it, but it was back there. We got around it,” Wings City Manager Bobby Foster said.

The manager said the violations had been corrected, but the restaurant still had the previous review report of 63 points posted, instead of the current rating of 51 points.

“Well, it’s going to go back up anyway,” said Foster.

Now for a good review in Gwinnett County: JR’s Log House on Peachtree Boulevard in Norcross received 92 points and an “A” grade during a routine inspection.

Burger Crush here on Concord Road in Smyrna scored 100 points on their last health inspection. That’s the second year in a row. Congratulations, they are this week’s Golden Spatula Award winners. I’m hungry and I hope you are too. They use a nice Angus brisket blend for the patty and have high-tech equipment that literally grinds your burger to perfection.

The menu features the Whammy, a double cheeseburger with secret sauce. There’s also a turkey burger, a whistlestop burger with pimento cheese and bacon, a mushroom burger, a Swiss burger, sides like onion rings, fries and fried green tomatoes, and a root beer float to wash it all down. Man, it’s good!
