Winners and losers of Kasanganay vs. Silveira Card

The PFL playoffs continue tonight, Friday, August 16. Tonight’s Professional Fighters League fight card features the semifinal rounds of the light heavyweight and lightweight divisions. In the main event, Impa Kasanganay, who won $1 million for winning the 2023 light heavyweight tournament, faces the man he defeated in last year’s final, Josh Silveira.

Also on the schedule, which takes place at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, is a 205-pound lightweight bout between Rob Wilkinson and Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov. The lightweight semifinals are Gadzhi Rabadanov vs. Michael Dufort and Brent Primus vs. Clay Collard. Collard was the runner-up in last year’s lightweight final, losing to Olivier Aubin-Mercier, who also won the 2022 tournament. Aubin-Mercier retired after winning his second $1 million tournament with the PFL.

The main card for PFL 8 begins at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN, followed by prelims on ESPN+ at 6:30 p.m. ET.

We’ll update the winners, losers and results as the fight card drops, and keep an eye out for video highlights from the event.

Below you will find previews, tips and predictions for the playoff battles:

Light heavyweight: Impa Kasanganay vs. Josh Silveira

The initial odds for this rematch were -298 for Kasanganay and +240 for Silveira. However, the betting odds have shifted significantly. Kasanganay is now at -600 and Silveira is listed at +350.

The first duel between the two was not very close. Silveira will have to come up with a completely new game plan if he wants to beat Kasanganay in Florida. But that won’t happen. The tip is that Kasanganay will win by decision.

Light heavyweight: Rob Wilkinson and Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov

Rob Wilkinson won the 2022 PL Light Heavyweight Tournament, but was disqualified from the tournament due to a failed doping test following his victory over Thiago Santos in 2023. He made it to the 2024 semifinals with a TKO win over Tom Breese and a point win over Josh Silveira.

Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov, a former Bellator fighter, is competing in his first PFL tournament. He qualified for the playoffs with a TKO win over Jakob Nedoh and a decision win over Simon Biyong.

The odds for this match have largely held up. Wilkinson opened at -198 and is now at -177. Yagshimuradov has since improved from +164 to +125.

The betting tip is a victory for Rob Wilkinson by decision.

Lightweight: Gadzhi Rabadanov vs. Michael Dufort

This lightweight semifinal will feature two PFL tournament newcomers. Gadzhi Rabadanov comes from Bellator. He made it to this round of the playoffs with decision wins over Solomon Renfro and Elvin Espinoza. Dufort, on the other hand, is making his first appearance in Bellator or PFL after fighting in the 2022 PFL Challenger Series. Dufort was 1-1 in the PFL regular season. His win was a submission victory over Mads Burnell. In his second outing, he lost a decision to Adam Piccolotti.

The opening odds for this match were -355 with Rabadanov as the big favorite. He has now risen to a massive -700 favorite. Dufort has risen from +280 to +440.

The betting tip is for Rabadanov to win by decision, but at the odds the value could justify a small bet on Dufort.

Lightweight: Brent Primus vs. Clay Collard

Aside from the main event, the fight between Brent Primus and Clay Collard is a special highlight at PFL 8.

Primus, a former Bellator lightweight champion, is competing in his first PFL tournament. He earned his way into the playoffs via submissions over Bruno Miranda and Solomon Renfro. Collard, who not only made it to the finals of last year’s PFL tournament but also made it to the semifinals in 2021, secured his playoff spot with a TKO win over Patricky Freire. In his second fight, he lost to Mads Burnell via decision.

The odds for this fight have changed. Collard started as a -148 favorite over Primus at +124. Primus is now a -210 favorite over Collard at +144.

The betting tip for this fight is a decision win for Primus. Another bet to consider is a knockout for Collard.
