Woman arrested in Ohio County on drug charges

OHIO COUNTY, Kentucky (WBKO) – An Ohio County woman was arrested on multiple drug charges.

On Saturday, July 27, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on three people in Ohio County Park after they witnessed a drug deal, according to a complaint obtained by WBKO.

Authorities searched the vehicles and found about a pound of methamphetamine, scales and drug paraphernalia. A search warrant was executed, allowing officers to attach a tracking device to one of the vehicles.

On Monday, August 19th, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office conducted another traffic stop on a vehicle entering Ohio County through Fordsville.

A sniffer dog was used during the stop and discovered illegal narcotics in or around the vehicle. A search of the vehicle found approximately one ounce of methamphetamine, one ounce of marijuana, digital scales and drug paraphernalia.

Investigators identified 47-year-old Janae Lewis of McHenry as the driver of the vehicle.

Lewis was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana (less than 230 grams), and purchase/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lewis is being held at the Ohio County Detention Center on $25,000 bail. Additional charges against Lewis and other suspects will be presented to the Ohio County Grand Jury.
