Woods and Lehnert score, Sycamores beat Miami (Ohio) 2-0

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – The Indiana State women’s soccer team hosted Miami, Ohio, for the second game of the 2024 season at Memorial Stadium on Thursday night, where they recorded their second clean sheet with a score of 2-0 and handed the RedHawks their first loss of the season.

How it came about:
The Sycamores struck first in the ninth minute when Brooklyn Woods converted a corner kick that gave ISU an early 1-0 lead. Woods has now scored two consecutive goals for the Sycamores in the 2024 season.

First semester Alex Lehnert kept the momentum going for Indiana State when she entered the game in the 32nd minute and took off with the ball to give ISU its second goal of the game with a shot into the bottom corner of the net. Lehnert scored her goal less than a minute after coming on as a substitute, playing 41 minutes in total in the win over the RedHawks and has now scored a goal in each debut of her college career.

Maddie Alexander finished the game with five saves in 90 minutes as the Sycamores defense held strong and prevented the RedHawks from finding the net. The Sycamores and RedHawks each shot nine times in Thursday night’s game, with five shots on goal. Indiana State had six corner shots, Miami had seven.
