WWE Bash in Berlin 2024: Match Card, Predictions

WWE has significantly increased the frequency with which it hosts major shows overseas, potentially leading to a WrestleMania at some point in the next few years. Given that these shows sold out almost immediately and the atmosphere that those sold-out crowds brought despite the challenges of the time difference, it’s easy to see why WWE wants to host more and more top-notch live events in Europe each year. Next up is Germany, which will host its first-ever WrestleMania. Bash In Berlin.

Gunther vs. Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Gunther became World Champion at SummerSlam, which means he goes to Bash In Berlin as champion. No, not from his home country, but from neighboring Austria, which likely means many of his family and friends will be in attendance. Gunther’s first-ever World Title defense will be against Randy Orton.

Gunther earned his shot at the World Title by defeating Orton in the King of the Ring finals. However, post-fight footage showed that one of Orton’s shoulders was not down. Gunther wanted to be an honorable champion and remove the asterisk from his reign, so he gave Orton the title shot he deserves. He has nothing to worry about unless he pulls off a major upset. Gunther wins here.

Cody Rhodes opened the SmackDown after SummerSlam by going in search of his next title challenger. It turns out he already had someone in mind – Kevin Owens. Owens has been helping Rhodes fight The Bloodline for months, and now that the group has some serious infighting to deal with, Rhodes wants to reward KO with a chance to become WWE Champion.

Owens initially declined, but then Nick Aldis noticed that he was considering Roman Reigns for the spot. KO then went out and made sure he was the one challenging for the title in Berlin. Now that he’s no longer facing The Bloodline, this feels like the start of a Rhodes world tour where he shows how good he is against different opponents, starting with a win over KO.
