WWE RAW injury news: Seth Rollins out “indefinitely” after Bronson Reed attack

Good luck figuring out what the actual physical issue is with Seth Rollins. The challenge is to separate the truth from the kayfabe regarding his health over the past year or more. His last hiatus after Wrestlemania 40 is completely authentic as his knee was indeed badly injured and required weeks of recovery time.

His recent return was a pleasant surprise (he stated he was medically cleared) and immediately reignited his feud with CM Punk in the lead-up to Summerslam 2024, thanks to his role as special guest referee in Punk’s match and eventual loss to Drew McIntyre.

But when Punk entered the ring at WWE RAW to follow Summerslam and confront Punk, he was eventually brutally attacked and pulverized by Bronson Reed – after which Rollins spat blood on the way to the local hospital.

And now, according to General Manager Adam Pearce, Rollins is being benched again.

“Our medical staff has informed me that Seth Rollins has indeed suffered multiple broken ribs and internal bruising and will therefore be out for an indefinite period of time. Bronson Reed was sentenced to a large but undisclosed fine for this action last Monday on RAW, which he has appealed. I do not expect Mr. Reed to be happy if I deny this appeal.”

This is of course the kayfabe version of events, but there is also a non-kayfabe version.

It was reported that this was a pre-planned strategy to take Rollins out of the program for an unspecified period of time, but not due to a major issue like broken ribs or the like, but rather due to “chronic issues” that, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, are not “major concerns.”

The latter is of course much better news, although it does suggest that Reed was used as a way out to give Rollins an out (just like Bron Breakker did with Ricochet this year), and with the Rollins-Punk feud the universe has been craving finally happening, it’s now a case of waiting to see when things pick up steam.

All eyes are on the “Bash in “Berlin PLE” on August 31st, at least hopefully.

Meanwhile, Rollins’ wife, Becky “The Man” Lynch, continues to be a free agent and is enjoying her own time off, albeit a contractual one.

So don’t plan on seeing anyone from the Rollins family in a WWE ring anytime soon.
