How rare are Xbox 360s with classic dashboard?

Reddit user NoScar3068 was able to buy an Xbox 360 with NXE dashboard for just $7.50. They originally bought two units, a Slim model and one with the red ring of death, for $15 on Facebook Marketplace. When they checked the consoles, they were surprised to find not only that the supposedly defective console worked, but that the Slim model also had the Xbox 360 NXE dashboard. While NoScar3068 believed this to be a rarity, some users refuted this theory, saying there wasn’t really a big market for it. Others joked that the Xbox 360 Blades dashboard was even rarer.

However, other commenters expressed their admiration for the lost home screen style. When the Xbox 360’s NXE Dashboard was introduced in 2008, it was eventually replaced by the Kinect and later the Metro Dashboard. Some fans brought up the discussion that Microsoft should have allowed Xbox 360 users to choose the home screen they preferred for a truly personalized and customizable experience.

As Xbox 360s become increasingly rare and limited edition Xbox 360 consoles become even harder to find, such valuable finds delight nostalgic fans. The fun evolution of Xbox 360 dashboards may have been an interesting experiment over the years. While the current Xbox ecosystem is moving on from an evolution of the Metro dashboard, fans still remember the simpler times when the Blades and the NXE dashboards were present in their systems.
