You can get cheap cinema tickets in the UK this week

If you’re planning on going to the movies this weekend, you’re in luck because to mark the return of National Cinema Day, movie ticket prices are being slashed for one day only.

National Cinema Day is this Saturday (31 August). Tickets are available for just £4 each at over 630 cinemas across the UK, including all the major cinema chains and some smaller independent cinemas. Films in 3D or IMAX are also part of the offer.

Now in its third year, the initiative was launched by cross-industry organisation Cinema First with support from the Film Distributors’ Association and the UK Cinema Association. It was launched in 2022 with immediate success. The special offer helped cinemas attract 1.46 million admissions in a single day, which is expected to increase to 1.56 million in 2023.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s event, Iain Jacob, Chairman of Cinema First, said: “National Cinema Day is fast becoming a great British cultural event, spreading the joy and conviviality of cinema across the country. This year we have more support than ever, allowing us to show a fantastically wide range of films at amazing prices. Each year this event has grown bigger, with more and more people sharing their love of cinema. We know 2024 will be the best year yet.”

Moviegoers looking to make the most of what is on offer have a wealth of options to choose from, such as Zoë Kravitz’s new thriller Blink Twice, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It ends with us, the remake of “The Last Man” with Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs The Crow and sci-fi horror Alien: Romulus.
