Downloading or updating apps on the Play Store is quite a time-consuming affair as the Play Store does them one by one. This can be frustrating, especially when you have a long list of app updates waiting to be installed.
Fortunately, in a new development, it now seems to be possible to download three apps at once from the Google Play Store. This especially works even when you are updating apps.
Almost a decade ago, when the Google Play Store was still known as the “Android Market,” users could download or update multiple apps at once. However, this feature was removed and was unavailable for years. But now it seems to be back.
The folks at 9To5Google discovered the Play Store’s new ability to download and install multiple app updates. Notably, this feature doesn’t allow you to download more than three apps at once. This also applies to installing app updates. The fourth app download or update will be marked as “pending.”
This is not a sudden change of heart from Google. The ability to download or update two apps at once was introduced in the Play Store back in April, but the feature was removed within days of its launch.
Fortunately, with the new feature, Google has reportedly increased the limit to three simultaneous downloads or updates.
It is unclear whether this feature will be a server-side change from Google or will require an update to the Play Store itself.
This new feature matches the power of the Apple App Store, which also allows its users to download up to three apps at once.
