“You can’t hear it any better” – Chelsea winger explains why he could cause damage under new manager

Chelsea have signed so many players in recent years that the players who have been here the longest are often forgotten and put at the back of the queue.

This is especially true of Raheem Sterling, who has only been here for two years himself. Not so long ago he was the shiny new toy – now he’s at the back of the cupboard as fans want to see their new signings in action.

So there is constant talk of the former Man City winger leaving Chelsea – even though he has never shown any interest in a move and it is essentially an impossible task. He earns too much for anyone to take him away from us.

However, since he’s sticking around, it’s good to hear that he’s still committed. Frankly, we’re guessing he doesn’t have many options.

His interview on the club’s official website today was almost deliberately aimed at showing his commitment to Chelsea and dispelling rumours of a sale. He also spoke at length about where the new manager wants to fit him in:

“The manager wants the midfielders to put the ball in the right positions so that you can make the difference. As a striker, you can’t hear that better. Standing high and wide is a position that I have played practically my whole career. It is definitely a position that I enjoy,” Sterling explained the demands that Enzo Maresca placed on him.

But above all, he wanted to show that he is not going anywhere:

“(Chelsea) is a football club that I am really attached to now. I will try to win trophies and repeat some of the successes I have had in the past.”

Let’s hope it works out that way.
