Your gateway to local news and community insights

Local entrepreneur and Berks Weekly Publisher Jason Hugg is excited to announce the launch of the Berks Weekly mobile app, designed to bring readers closer to the community’s most important stories. Featuring exclusive content from local journalists and a seamless mobile experience, the Berks Weekly app ensures readers can read, watch and hear on the go.

The app is now available for iOS and Android devices and offers an intuitive user experience that makes it easy for readers to navigate through the latest news. Whether you’re a tech-savvy user or new to mobile apps, readers will find the design straightforward and engaging. The most impressive feature leverages the power of artificial intelligence to provide localized insights tailored to individual interests. The AI-powered chatbot, powered by ChatGPT using data from Berks Weekly, offers personalized responses to provide readers with quick information on local issues.

“The idea to launch a mobile app grew out of a broader decision to improve Berks Weekly’s creation and distribution of local content,” said Hugg. “I started Berks Weekly five years ago to publish local news for the community. While we will continue to publish news, over the next five years I want to focus more on positive stories about local people. I look forward to using the mobile app as a platform to create and share uplifting content, including photos, videos and audio stories, all in one place.”

The Berks Weekly app is completely free to download, and there are no paywalls preventing readers from accessing important information. Stay up to date with instant news alerts, live video streaming, and user submissions – all integrated into one powerful app. For those who prefer a larger screen, a browser-based desktop app is available with all the features of the mobile version.

Never miss a thing with breaking news alerts. Berks Weekly reporters monitor public safety channels, traffic alerts, weather and more to keep readers up to date with breaking developments. Watch local news live with a new livestream player that includes a theater mode, picture-in-picture pop-out and a curated playlist for watching later. Readers can also join the team of reporters by submitting news tips. Share photos, videos, upcoming events or press releases directly from the app.

What is there to do in Berks County? The events calendar includes local happenings such as festivals, fundraisers, cultural events and neighborhood gatherings. Photos from these events and other local activities are shared in the photo gallery.

And last but not least, experience Berks Weekly’s exclusive audio series “Local Conversations,” in which reporters interview local people to provide deeper insights and perspectives on important community issues.

The Berks Weekly app helps you stay informed and connect with the community. Download the app today at berksweekly.com/app and experience local news in a whole new way.
