BUTLER – Steel Dynamics Inc. has once again provided immeasurable assistance to the Filling Station Youth Center in Butler.
The center’s 20-year-old kitchen needed to be upgraded to ensure food safety and efficiently feed the children who attend daily. The youth center is operated by the Butler Youth Evangelistic Association.
SDI staff installed electrical outlets on the countertop to improve food quality, removed old countertops that cramped volunteers in the tiny kitchen, then installed an expanded countertop, making the kitchen twice as large.
SDI also purchased and installed a double convection oven, a new microwave, and a new electric convection range to meet the needs of the kitchen. Youth Center volunteers can now see while working in the kitchen thanks to under-cabinet lighting installed by SDI and The Dilling Group Inc.
The additional sink allows the volunteers to utilize their new island while serving the children the specialties they all enjoy, allowing meals from the kitchen to continue to be served. With the upgrade of the new fuse box and new electrical outlets throughout the building, the youth center now has a garbage disposal that ensures sanitary conditions and no more tripping of circuit breakers when using appliances.
“The volunteers and board of BYEA would like to publicly thank SDI and Joshua Hausbach, electrical engineer, for all that has been done for the children and pastoral care at the Filling Station Youth Center,” said Cindy Snyder, volunteer administrative director and co-director of BYEA. “The Lord used Joshua and his team of professionals to provide this incredibly beautiful and efficient kitchen for us so that we can continue to meet the needs here at the YC.
“Josh picked up the ball and ran with it for a touchdown,” said Snyder. “He oversaw this project and the work was done beautifully, exceeding all expectations. The soft-closing cabinets were the icing on the cake! You guys are incredible. We keep getting comments about how beautiful and efficient our kitchen is now. Thank you, SDI, and thank you, Josh.”
“This was a great opportunity to work with an absolutely outstanding organization,” said Hausbach. “I can’t say enough good things about the team at Filling Station Youth Center. Their commitment to serving the youth of the Butler community by providing a safe and loving environment is a service that deserves praise and thanks from all.”
