5 wellness activities for this weekend of August 9-11 in Hong Kong, from fencing to floating

It may be hot in Hong Kong this weekend, but there are plenty of cool things to do, from trying out an Olympic sport to chilling with a singing bowl or gong bath to floating in a relaxing pod.

Check out these five ways to spend your time healthily.

1. Take part in a taster fencing course

Have you caught Hong Kong’s fencing fever after watching it? Vivian Kong Man-wai And Cheung Ka Long win gold in this sport at the Paris Games? If you want to try it for yourself because of its many positive effects on mental and physical health, sign up for a trial class this weekend.

Hong Kong Fencing Master offers 90-minute classes for youth and adults on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. The cost is HK$680 (US$87) and includes the hire of all necessary equipment. 2. Singing bowl and gong bath sessions

At the end of the work week, you may want to hide everything stress and fear. Book a singing bowl sound bath on Friday evening from 6:45pm to 8pm or a floating sound bath on Saturday afternoon from 3pm to 4:15pm at Tune In Wellness in Wan Chai.

3. Join a hike at the HK Hiking Meetup

The eight-kilometre (five-mile) walk starts at 8am from the MTR station, then heads along Mount Parker Road to Quarry Gap to the Tai Tam Reservoirs, and ends at Tai Tam Road. The walk is estimated to take about two hours.

4. Take a yoga class for pregnant women

Expectant mothers and fathers can register for Sarah Kam’s one-hour class at Hikari Yoga on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. or on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Kam taught yoga for pregnant women for more than 10 years.

5. Swimming and jumping into the ice
