Stranger Things boss shares big update on season 5

Fans of Stranger Things have received a major update on the highly anticipated fifth season.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series is currently in production and brings together Gaten Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin for one final journey into the shadow world.

Two years have passed since the release of the fourth season on the streaming service and fans are constantly waiting for new updates.

Co-creator Ross Duffer has revealed some new information and hinted at when the film might hit our screens, posting a photo of the cast and crew on set on his Instagram page.

Next to the picture he wrote: “Week 24. Congratulations on halfway through with the best cast and crew ever.”

The post also included a video of Mike Wheeler actor Finn Wolfhard placing a marble in a jar, which the team apparently uses to mark how many days they have worked on the show.

When asked how it feels to be the one to place the milestone marble, Finn laughed and said it was “exactly the same.”

Some followers suggested that this could mean that the fifth season of Stranger Things could be released as early as January 2025, with production now halfway complete.

This came after Maya Hawke, who plays Robin Buckley in the series, commented on the upcoming “movie-length” episodes.

“Our showrunners, Matt and Ross (Duffer), take on a lot of responsibility. They care a lot about the quality of the rest of the script,” she said on Penn Badgley’s podcast “Podcrushed.”

“It takes a long time to write each season and it takes a long time to shoot it – we’re basically making eight movies. The episodes are very long.”

Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. A fifth and final season is in production. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is now available to book until February 2025 at the Phoenix Theatre in London. Tickets are now available.
