Drake and Lil Yachty receive ultimatum whether they want to release “Super Soaker”

Drake and Lil Yachty have received a possible lifeline and could release their recently leaked song, currently titled “Super Soaker.”

Earlier this month, Yachty gave the track to popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat to leak on a show. The trap-inspired record samples internet personality Mr HotSpot’s song “Goodness Gracious.”

It was later revealed that he had refused Drake and Yachty’s request to release the sample, citing his recent religious conversion as the reason for the denial.

However, during a recent TikTok live broadcast, HotSpot changed his mind and said he would release the sample – if Drake and Yachty made a clean version of the song and changed some lyrics to make it more kid-friendly.

“We recorded them a clean reference,” he told his audience. “We sent them that, so we’re hoping they’ll re-record the clean reference and we’ll come out with the clean ‘Goodness Gracious’ together.”

“It’s a process, but it will be good for both brands. And I’m lucky to work with kids. So we just have to make it clean for them.”

He added: “We don’t need children being beaten up for saying this or that. If you look at the back, it’s the children who are really spreading these views. So if we can make sure that both verses are clean – if everyone comes clean, everyone will certainly benefit.”

“We’re not trying to stop them from doing anything, we just have to make sure the morale is right, that’s all.”

At a performance by comedian Andrew Schultz Flagrant On last week’s podcast, Lil Yachty seemed unhappy that Mr HotSpot had turned down his and Drake’s request.

“He kind of took a Christian approach,” he explained, adding that HotSpot had no interest in being compensated for the sample. “I don’t think we made any money. He said, ‘No.’ It was crazy. Everyone was like, ‘Are you serious?'”

Yachty also suggested that he and Drake could still perform the song and make money from it.

There was some online backlash for Drake and Yachty’s decision to release “Super Soaker” despite Mr HotSpot’s religious objections. Days later, Yachty told his fans via Instagram Live that he was retiring from social media.

“I don’t post shit anymore,” he said. “I don’t post tantrums. I delete the apps on my phone, I swear to God. I don’t tweet. I mind my own shit, man.”

The action also comes weeks after the Atlanta rapper faced heavy criticism for saying Atlanta is more influential than New York City when it comes to fashion and pop culture. Yachty tried to make his point clear on TikTok, but still faced criticism from many New York public figures, including rapper Juelz Santana.

Additionally, Soulja Boy thought Drake was attacking him because he was referencing his record label SODMG and his 2007 hit “Super Soak.” After a heated social media outburst against 6God, the “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” star later clarified that he and Drake had cleared up the misunderstanding and that it was “not an insult” against him.

In other news, Yachty was featured on the soundtrack for the Despicable Me 4 Film released last month.

Meanwhile, Drake just shared 100 GB (gigabytes) of data via a new website – including three previously unreleased songs.

He also announced that he and OVO signee PartyNextDoor will release a collaborative album this fall.
