The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline at self-dispensing stations in Los Angeles County fell two-tenths of a cent to $4.564 on Sunday.
The average price is 4.1 cents lower than a week ago, 20.5 cents lower than a month ago and 63 cents lower than a year ago, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The price has fallen by $1.93 since its record high of $6.494 on October 5, 2022.
The average price in Orange County rose half a cent to $4.485, a day after ending a streak of 11 consecutive declines when it was unchanged. That’s 3.8 cents less than a week ago, 20.2 cents less than a month ago and 66 cents less than a year ago. The average price in Orange County has fallen $1.974 since rising to a record $6.459 on October 5, 2022.
The national average price fell half a cent for the 15th consecutive day to $3.445. That’s 2.9 cents less than a week ago, 9.9 cents less than a month ago and 39.6 cents less than a year ago. The national average price has fallen $1.571 since its record high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“As Tropical Storm Debby moves along the I-95 corridor and reaches the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, the threat to Gulf Coast oil production and refining has passed,” said Andrew Gross, national public relations manager for AAA. “But tensions in the Middle East and some economic uncertainty abroad could mitigate a decline in oil prices.”
