We all want our parents to make us feel loved and safe.

That’s a reasonable expectation.

Unfortunately, the young person received opposing feelings from her parents and therefore had to take a stand.

Read her story to find out what happened.

My parents took out credit cards and loans in my name.

When they paid their bills, everything was fine, but they fell behind on payments.

I don’t have a key to the mailbox, so I haven’t seen the bills or anything else.

So she tries to get her life a little bit under control.

Now I’m about $60,000 in debt because of them and I can’t afford to pay it back.

I told them that they had to pay off the debt immediately and change the house rules so that my friend could stay overnight.

They said they did not have enough money to pay the debt and that I could not force them to change their house rules.

I called my aunt and asked her if I could please stay with her for a moment.

She allowed it and asked many questions.

She realizes that her parents are taking advantage of her.

Then she showed me a dozen Reddit posts about how parents ruined their children’s futures and the children let it happen.

I went to the police and reported it.

My parents have been arrested and charged. They are angry with me.

I know they didn’t spend the money on me.

I don’t know what they spent it on.

I do not care.

I feel sorry for them, but I won’t let them ruin my future.

Is this possible?

Such a heartbreaking situation. Some parents are so toxic.

This is what people say:

When I read that it was “okay” I knew she was still a puppet. It’s so sad.

Yes. I think it’s terrible that she feels guilty about it.

I cannot understand why someone would do such a thing to another, especially to their own children.

And even sadder. You only have two parents. I’m glad her aunt is great.

I imagine how time-consuming and frustrating all these tasks are.

I hope she finds some peace in the midst of all this.

If you thought that was an interesting story, check out what happened when a family gave their in-laws free accommodation in exchange for babysitting. However, things changed when they didn’t keep their end of the bargain.
