The Trails Center welcomes award-winning author Janelle Molony

CASPER, Wyoming – In the coming days, the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center will host a special meet-and-greet with award-winning author and historian Janelle Molony. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, from noon to 1 p.m.

Molony will share her family’s story and historical accounts from her books. Her family history includes survivors of the Platte River Raids of 1864.

Molony’s works include her most recent book, Emigrant Tales of the Plate River Raids, and The 1864 Diary of Mrs. Sarah Jane Rousseau, an unabridged diary of Rousseau with a fictionalized retelling of the events by Molony.

Event schedule

  • Wednesday, August 14, 12pm – Meet and Greet with author Janelle Molony
  • Saturday, August 17, 11am – Gold Rush! (Junior Ranger Program)
  • Saturday, August 17, 1 p.m. – The Fort Bridger and Fort Laramie Treaties of 1868, with local historian Tom Rea.
  • Sunday, August 18, 1 p.m. – The Pony Express Trail: A series of stops, with the National Pony Express Association.
  • Sunday, August 18, 3:00 p.m. – Dakota Hoop Dancing with World Champion Jasmine Pickner-Bell.
